Our friends over at grüvr.com are taking GMap mashups to a whole new level. Recently they were featured on mashable.com and the popularity of both their website and the band map widget that they developed with the GMap Flash Component is growing exponentially.
The website allows you to track bands that are playing in your area. From their info page:
“Geocoding and tracking work internationally to follow bands - and fans - anywhere. Tracking is based on band schedule, not venue or ticket-seller sites.”
“If you take your laptop to Rome and visit grüvr.com, it will detect your new location and send you alerts about bands on your radar playing near Rome. No need to log in or even know your current postal code or town.”
Very cool! Check out grüvr.com to see a list of shows in your area.
They also have a map widget that bands can use to promote thier tours and shows. The band-map widget has been very popular and has been adopted by hundreds of bands on MySpace.
“It conforms to myspace security and can live on myspace profiles.”
To get your own band-map widget, just go here and type in your favorite band name (or myspace name if needed).
